Mocap and sports technology at Rovaniemi education centers
‘MOCAP Systems in Gamifying Sports and Wellness Analysis’ focuses on testing environments and business technology in Rovaniemi educational organizations. It is a project funded by the Regional Council of Lapland (ERDF), with the main implementer being Lapland University of Applied Sciences, and the University of Lapland and the Santasport Sports Institute of the Rovaniemi Education Consortium as co-implementers.
Sports testing and XR development environments
The MOCAPPE project develops three environments belonging to the University of Lapland, Lapland University of Applied Sciences and Santasport Sports Institute.
XR Lab
XRLab is located at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Lapland. The environment is equipped with an OptiTrack MOCAP camera system and VR equipment. The environment enables, for example, versatile XR testing and motion analytics using mocap cameras.
Sports Lab
Sports Lab is the testing environment of Lapland University of Applied Sciences and is located in the Olympic Training Center of the sports institute. The Sports Lab is equipped with a VICON camera system, MOTEK equipment and several other sensor devices for sports testing and rehabilitation activities, among other things.
Testing & Training
Santasport Sports Institute has a testing laboratory in the Olympic Training Center, where it is possible to train, for example, performance technique and power production. The big Rodby Treadmill enables, for example, roller skiing, running or even cycling.
MOCAPPE project as part of the Arctic Sports Cluster
The goal of the Arctic Sports Cluster is to promote the growth of sports, exercise and wellness companies in Lapland and the Arctic region, as well as the development of new products and services. The MOCAPPE project develops environments with new technologies that create potential for developing companies’ expertise.
