During the summer, University of Lapland conducted user testing at the XR Lab about the immersive VR experiences in Cold Plunging. The aim of the study is to compare immersion and its impact on the user experience with various physical elements while the participant is immersed in a VR environment.
The physical elements included cold water on the feet, wind from fans, a cooled seat, and descending a ladder.
The users described the experience as following:
“It was an interesting and calming experience.”
“A fun user experience!”
“I dislike deep waters, but the different elements took my focus away from the fear and made it more comfortable.”
A video about the VR Cold Plunge has also been published, which can be viewed on YouTube. We will now also add the project’s results to its own results subpage.
