We are now trying out the 3D-environments for the running game in Santasport’s sports testing environment. We have reached a stage in the technical development where we have moved from the “dev desk” to test out the data processing between the game engine and the Rodby-treadmill directly in the actual user environment.
Two game maps have currently been built from the game’s 3D environments: a fantasy world and a mountain run. The fantasy world is complete, and the mountain run is still in the final stages; textures and models are still being added to the field.
Fantasy world takes the runner to the grassroot level.
The Mountain run is guaranteed to get your thighs sore!
We have already been able to try out the functionality of the maps a couple of times with the Rodby treadmill. As you might expect, the technology of multiple devices does not necessarily always play as planned the first time. The most important thing is now to test and find the problem areas with the data input and its reading at the game engine. At the moment, the most important task is to get Rodby to react to the height profile of the course and adjust the runner’s speed to the right pace. After the most important functionalities, we can add the following main principles:
-
-
- Track profile
- Performance data recording and leaderboard
- Heart rate data
- Feedback
-
When runners’ performances can be successfully recorded, we can follow the progress of one’s own development in the game, or even compete against other players if desired. The performances can be used to create a “ghost”, familiar from racing games, which runs in the same track with the player. In addition to this, monitoring heart rate data and providing game feedback are incentives to improve performance and monitor one’s own fitness level.

We will be holding two demo tests on Friday, October 31, 2025 at Santasport’s event, where you can try out the demo version of the game and provide feedback on its development. We won’t be able to get all the features ready by the test day, but the pace of development is fast and we are striving to create the most fun running experience possible with the help of game engines!
